grants professional to oversee and coordinate TransForm�s
foundation-related activities. This position serves as the primary writer,
editor and coordinator of the majority of grant proposals, reports and
correspondence with foundation staff that the organization generates. To

The Grants Manager works closely with and is strongly supported by the
Development Director and the Executive Director to help sustain, grow and
manage the significant foundation revenue that supports TransForm�s $3.4
million budget � plus works closely with program staff in crafting
proposals and reporting on grants.

*Compensation and Benefits:* This position is a full-time exempt position
in a family-friendly, fast-paced and highly flexible work environment.
Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits are competitive with
similar positions. TransForm also designates funds for professional

*Key Responsibility Areas:*
- *Draft and edit grant proposals, grant reports, letters of intent. In
addition, maintain and compile other application materials such as budgets,
financial reports, cover letters and more.* Work with staff to produce
high-quality, compelling grant proposals, reports and other correspondence
to meet budget goals. This work often triggers needed conversations about
program goals, strategies and specifics that have not yet been fleshed out
so there is a certain amount of helping identify gaps and homing in on
these details plus overall framing in collaboration with program staff.
Work with key staff, esp. the Development Director and Senior Accountant,
to develop budgets and financial reports.
- *Develop and implement a cultivation and stewardship plan for
foundation staff.* Work with the Executive Director and Development
Director to determine individual strategies for current and potential
funders so they receive regular, timely and tailored communications
(electronic, mail, and face-to-face). Maintain and implement a system in
Salesforce for tracking these strategies, draft content as needed and
ensure touches occur in a timely manner.
- *Track, monitor, and report on all grant-related activities.* Use
Salesforce to manage information and triggers related to: proposal and
report deadlines, payment schedules, probabilities of future grants/revenue
tracking, targeted cultivation tasks, relationships, and renewal grant
proposals. Maintain accompanying paper records. Regularly communicate with
key staff on deadlines, crunch times and key tasks.
- *Research and prospecting.* Occasionally research, identify and
prioritize new potential sources of foundation funding. Also, support the
Executive Director as needed when opportunities come up for him to speak
at/communicate with funder networks, etc.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative way producing written
material. Strong skills in giving and receiving feedback on writing both in
terms of content and quality.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience. This should include writing
significant amounts of lengthy content in a deadline-driven environment.
Grant writing experience is preferred, but we are open to people with other

- Self-motivated, attention to detail, patience and the ability to stay
cool under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Connections to or familiarity with foundations a plus.
- Knowledge of and ability to write about transportation and land use
issues a plus.
- Bachelor�s degree required; Master�s degree a plus.
- A deep commitment to TransForm�s mission and a strong desire to be a
part of making positive environmental and social change in the world.
