Are you interested in making cities, towns, and regions more
sustainable, economically vibrant, equitable, and beautiful places to
live? Then consider beginning a Master of Urban Planning (MUP) degree
or a certificate in urban planning this fall at San Jose State
University. The university is located in San Jose, the heart of
      Silicon Valley.

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning is still accepting
applications for students who wish to begin the MUP or certificate
programs in fall 2013 (application deadline: MAY 1, 2013).

In addition, we offer graduate certificate programs that students can
begin any semester without a formal application process. MUP students
can complete these as part of their degree program, too. Certificates
      are offered in 4 areas:

      - Applications of Technology in Planning
      - Community Design and Development
      - Real Estate Development
      - Transportation and Land Use Planning

Benefits of studying at SJSU include the flexibility to complete the
MUP degree or certificates either as a part-time or full-time student,
affordable tuition, many opportunities to work directly with local
communities as part of required and elective coursework, and research
assistant positions with faculty. Alumni pursue careers with a wide
variety of employers, from government agencies at all levels (local to
national), to the nonprofit advocacy sector, to private consulting
firms, to real estate development firms. As a testament to the success
of the department’s students, our graduates won the national American
Planning Association Student Planner Leadership award in both 2008 and
      2009.
