      This position works under the direction of the Parking Operations
      Coordinator inCoordinator in the Parkingthe Parking & Transportation
      Services (P&TS) department, in addition to acting as team assistant to
      other P&TS staff. Typical duties include monitoring and maintaining the
      operation of the visitor pay parking machines, coordinating special parking
      arrangements for events and construction, and administering access into the
      central pedestrian zone. Other duties include producing reports on parking
      utilization and operations and coordinating implementation of minor changes
      to the campus parking system; responding to customer complaints; regularly
      reviewing the condition of parking facilities and related equipment, and
      coordinating remedial action when deficiencies are found; providing
      customer information in addition to other tasks in the field associated
      with routine operation of special event parking and the central pedestrian

      This position also provides support related to the Transportation Services
      sector of P&TS by assisting staff in a variety of tasks such as: conducting
      periodic systematic surveys, assisting in the organization of out-of-office
      events; providing assistance and backup to the TDM and Bicycle Programs and
      supporting customer service efforts with the Retail staff.

      This is a full-time position. Some duties will occasionally require working
      early morning, evening, and weekend hours.


      Monitor and maintain the operation of the visitor pay parking machines,
      regular cleaning and maintenance of machine hardware
      monitoring and replacing printer paper rolls
      responding to customer issues in the field
      configuration of back-office system software
      coordination with pay machine manufacturer for hardware repairs and
      software issues
      analysis of visitor parking revenue and utilization data

      Coordinate special parking arrangements for events, construction, and the
      central pedestrian zone including
      performing tasks in the field associated with routine operation of special
      event parking such as opening and closing gates, checking signs, etc.
      preparing and issuing parking identifiers
      daily operation of the central pedestrian zone access control system

      Provide customer information in the field, including
      placing flyers on parked cars.
      posting temporary signs
      correcting existing parking signs

      Perform periodic special data collection and analysis projects, including:
      small-area occupancy studies to support parking re-allocation projects
      field checking conditions mentioned in customer complaints
      field verification for updates of the Parking and Circulation Map

      Coordinate minor changes to the parking system, including:
      coordinating with Public Safety, Road Maintenance, and others to implement
      parking allocation changes
      setting up and monitoring work orders to install new signs and curb
      working with other university staff on maintenance of compliant disabled
      parking spaces and temporary relocation of disabled spaces due to
      attending field review meetings with multi-departmental parking team
      (i.e.; "driveabout")
      preparing and distributing action minutes of each field review meeting

      Check and record the condition of permanent facilities, equipment,
      information signs, and markings, including:
      regularly reviewing the condition and operation of parking facility pay
      machines, access control gates, lighting, etc.
      conducting periodic systematic surveys of existing parking lot/structure
      signing and striping
      noting signage, pavement striping and curb marking deficiencies and
      inconsistencies when in the field performing other duties
      coordinate with the responsible parties to get the corrective work done,
      and follow-up to make sure the work is completed

      Develop and maintain database of parking space inventory and utilization
      Conduct routine occupancy checks of parking lots/structures and enter this
      info into the database
      Develop spreadsheets and maps to present occupancy survey results


      •Assist in the organization of out of office events (fairs, tabling events,
      meetings, etc) for alternative transportation education, including (but not
      limited to) bike program, carpools, vanpools and transit use. Coordinate
      collateral material for fairs, events, etc (May require occasional lifting
      of boxes)

      •Compose and edit correspondence

      •Perform various errands on and off campus including courier tasks

      •Provide assistance to the Retail, TDM, and Bicycle Programs, as needed.

      •Other administrative duties as assigned

      Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of applications, Adobe Acrobat and
      Illustrator, in addition to a demonstrated ability to learn new software
      programs. Working knowledge of basic office equipment including copier,
      FAX, multi-line phone system, printer and basic computer environment.
      Employee must possess the ability to pay close attention to detail, show
      flexibility and demonstrate the ability to work with diverse clientele.
      Employee must be able to schedule, prioritize, and maintain changing
      priorities of work. The employee must have excellent written and oral
      communication skills and judgment in following policies and procedures,
      using creativity as needed to solve problems. Employee must have experience
      and be comfortable working in a team environment, effectively contributing
      as a member of the team.

      Cooperativeness and strong work ethic, including punctuality and
      attendance, are critical attributes required of this position. Must possess
      valid CA driver’s license. High school diploma or equivalent required.

      Ability to work outdoors under a variety of conditions
      Combination of education and experience that demonstrate the skills
      necessary to conduct data collection, data entry, data reporting and data
      analysis tasks
      Demonstrated skill in coordinating implementation of projects involving
      many technical areas and many different players
      Familiarity with the Stanford campus or experience working in a
      campus-like environment
      Ability to read and work with a variety of maps, drawings and graphics
      Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
      Strong analytical skills; detail-oriented; careful, conscientious worker
      Demonstrated skill in the use of computerized spreadsheets, database
      programs, and graphics applications.
      Ability to creatively resolve complaints and customer service issues with
      tact and diplomacy
      Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
