      *ABOUT THE POSITION:** *This position will work with TransForm�s Deputy
      Director and other staff on several campaigns to change the Bay Area�s
      transportation network and influence land use decisions. These include
      efforts to ensure equity, choice, and innovation in plans for
      high-occupancy toll lanes, the adoption of the Bay Area�s first Sustainable
      Communities Strategy. The person in this position will do a wide range of
      tasks to make these campaigns successful. This position will begin as soon
      as possible.

      This position is perfect for someone who is passionate about improving
      transportation and land use in the Bay Area, has experience running
      advocacy campaigns, and has strong communication skills. The work will
      provide excellent exposure to a wide range of issues, organizations and
      leaders in the field. It is based in TransForm�s main office in Oakland.
      The position is temporary, running through July 2013. Full-time is strongly
      preferred, but there is some potential of flexibility for the right person.


      � *Carry out advocacy campaigns *on* *issues such as high-occupancy toll
      lanes, the Sustainable Communities Strategy, and neighborhood TOD plans.

      � *Inspire ally groups *to take supportive campaign actions: gather
      signatures for sign-on letters, spur partners to organize their members to
      take action.

      � *Represent TransForm�s position* in a variety of contexts: one-on-one
      with decision-makers and partner groups, with media, and in public

      � *Write and edit.* With direction on content, produce drafts of a wide
      variety of written materials: e.g., emails, blog posts, action alerts,
      newsletter articles, web pages, Facebook posts, and tweets. Copyedit a
      range of written materials prior to release.

      � *Support effective media efforts: *work with the communications team to
      create innovative media hooks, write releases, pitch stories, and followup
      with reporters.

      � *Design & run social media efforts *to spur TransForm members and
      sympathizers to take supportive campaign actions.


      � At least 3 years experience advocating for change in transportation
      policy, land use planning, or related field.

      � Familiarity with Bay Area transit agencies, issues and non-profit
      community a strong plus.

      � Strong writing and editing skills in many formats.

      � Demonstrated comfort working with partners and influencing
      decision-makers with widely varying viewpoints.

      � Experience running media campaigns, using social media and online
      campaign tools, and designing infographics or other innovative ways to
      convey complex analyses a plus.

      *COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:* Compensation is $3500-$5000 per month based
