The Northern California Recycling Association (NCRA) - International Zero Waste Week
- NCRA is an association of recycling businesses, community groups, municipalities, and individuals committed to promoting, expanding, and institutionalizing recycling.
As communities throughout California are mandated by AB 32 to adopt measures to reduce green house emissions to 1990 levels, municipalities are seeking ways to implement the commercial recycling componenet of the Bill.
International Zero Waste Week 2013 will feature professionals in the solid waste industry who are actively seeking input from Planners and APA on developing strategies and best practices to cite compost and materials recovery facilities as landfill alternatives. This is an important land use issue as communities grapple with reducing GHG emissions, and finding alternatives to landfills, a significant GHG generator, is a major part of the solution.
