Commuter Benefits Ordinance Internship:
This internship will focus on the Commuter Benefits Ordinance. The Ordinance http://www.sfenvironment.org/transportation/sustainable-commuting-programs/commuter-benefits/businesses/employees requires businesses with twenty or more employees to provide a commuter benefit. The goal of the Ordinance is to reduce driving alone to and from work. Part of the administration of the Ordinance is annual compliance reporting and enforcement.
As an intern, you will be helping with the annual compliance process. Activities include sending out compliance notifications and monitoring submissions. Enforcement will be piloted in the coming year and activities include assistance with drafting an action plan, updating informational materials, sending notifications to non-compliant businesses, monitoring the enforcement process and analyzing pilot results. You will also be helping with the development and implementation of a campaign to encourage San Francisco commuters to use sustainable transportation modes. Campaign activities include developing materials, monitoring roll-out, coordinating with stakeholders, marketing at events and analyzing the data of the campaign. For more information and to apply, please visit the SF Environment employment page http://www.sfenvironment.org/about/jobs/clean-transportation-commuter-benefits-program-internship .
This internship will focus on the SchoolPool program. SchoolPool http://www.wepool2school.org/ is a free ridematching service to help families find other families to walk, bike, bus or car-pool with to school. Over 350 families in the San Francisco Unified School District are currently registered and participating in the program. The system is safe, registration is fast and matches are easy, secure and private. This year, SF Environment is promoting SchoolPool at 24 public schools in San Francisco, the majority being elementary schools. The ultimate purpose of the SchoolPool program is to facilitate and encourage the use of sustainable transportation modes by families and, in so doing, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and vehicle idling outside schools.
As an intern, you will be helping with the development and implementation of a campaign to increase the number of families pooling to school. Campaign activities include developing rules and outreach materials, assisting with campaign initiation and close-out, coordinating with schools, marketing and presenting at various events, and analyzing the data of the campaign. A travel tally data collection effort will also take place in April and you will assist with conducting and analyzing survey data. You will work closely with, and under the supervision and guidance of, the CommuteSmart Program Associate and CommuteSmart Program Manager.
