      Resource Conservation Specialists II, under the direction of a Resource
      Conservation Program Manager, are responsible for carrying out a variety of
      resource conservation projects and activities in one or more specific areas
      of solid waste, energy, water, or climate action. Projects and activities
      may include, but are not limited to:

      - Developing and writing outreach materials and/or website information
      to promote resource conservation programs, the 4 R's (Source Reduction,
      Reuse, Recycling, Rot-Composting), energy efficiency, water conservation or
      greenhouse gas emission reductions.
      - Responding to inquiries and providing information to the public via
      phone or email and at information counters.
      - Organizing events, open houses and tours.
      - Recruiting, training and coordinating volunteers and temporary staff.
      - Providing presentations to city staff or councils, community groups,
      schools and businesses.
      - Conducting analyses and evaluation of existing recycling and resource
      conservation programs at city and county facilities, schools, and in
      unincorporated areas to increase waste diversion and/or resource
      - Investigating, analyzing and writing reports.
      - Representing RecycleWorks on related committees and groups as needed.
      - Working with staff from other cities, county departments, agencies,
      Joint Power Authorities, utility companies, congestion management
      associations or NGOs.
      - Supporting AB 939 diversion programs and other RecycleWorks programs.
      - Providing contract management and staff support for assigned section.

      *The ideal candidate will possess the knowledge, skills and abilities
      required for the position and two years of experience in developing,
      implementing, promoting and evaluating solid waste and resource
      conservation programs. In addition, the ideal candidate will be:

      - Experienced in providing public information and outreach, event
      management, online communities/social media, writing outreach pieces, and
      public/press relations.
      - A leader who can supervise permanent, temporary, contract and/or
      volunteer staff on a project basis.
      - Capable of training, teaching, public speaking, facilitating
      collaborative groups, team-building and assisting the public.
      - Technologically savvy and comfortable corresponding via email,
      creating documents, and updating/managing websites.
      - An engaging communicator who can make effective presentations and
      clear, concise and accurately written studies, proposals and reports.
