      The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) is seeking
      qualified candidates for the positions of Associate or Senior Planner.
      The positions may work on a wide variety of transportation planning
      and implementation projects. Examples of Duties: Duties typically
      include, but are not limited to the following: • Work in a
      challenging, team-oriented environment; • Plan and prepare complex
      planning projects, or significant portions of such projects, and lead
      or assist in the preparation of planning grant applications; • Lead
      or assist in compiling, arranging, analyzing and interpreting
      transportation, demographic and financial data, and presenting them in
      both quantitative and qualitative formats; • Provide technical
      assistance to stakeholder agencies on various transportation subject
      areas; • Lead or assist in the facilitation of public meetings or
      workshops; • Independently prepare or coordinate the research,
      analysis and writing of staff reports for the SACOG Board and/or
      advisory committees, with knowledge and experience in public transit,
      highway/road planning, and the environmental process for
      transportation projects preferred; • Work with stakeholder agencies
      in the development of transportation project lists, programming
      priorities, and grants management. Experience with Federal Transit
      Administration and State of California funding programs preferred; •
      Effectively present proposals and ideas and make presentations to
      policy boards; • Supervise, train, evaluate and mentor interns or
      less experienced staff; and • Environmental planning work that
      requires an understanding of the principles and practices of
      NEPA/CEQA. $67,500-$82,044 (Associate) or $78,132-$94,980 (Senior).
      Appointment will be made within these ranges, depending on

      Employment Standards: The standard for the Associate Planner is
      education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in planning,
      engineering, public administration, or a related field plus two years
      of professional planning experience. In addition, the Senior Planner
      requires four years of increasingly responsible professional planning
      experience, preferably including some supervisory experience. License
      or Certificate: Possession of a valid California driver’s license is
      required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a
      disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
