      The Principal Economic/Housing Research Analyst position at the Association
      of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) is one of two Principal level research
      analyst positions. This position is responsible for economic and housing
      projections using complex land use analysis, housing production
      feasibility, economic forecasting, and analysis of local planning and
      development. One of the major responsibilities ofthis position will beto
      address the implications of the region�s upcoming demographic changes on
      the jobs and housing markets, incorporating information from the recent
      housing crisis, regional industrial restructuring, increasing job
      polarization, and the shift in neighborhood qualities and preferences. This
      research will aid in building institutional knowledge essential to further
      support and integrate land use and transportation analysis as Well as
      supplement the in-house data and analytical tools for the increasing
      demands of regional planning.

      ln addition to the core analytical tasks, the Economic/Housing Research
      Analyst is expected to make public presentations, produce research
      publications, and convey an understanding of regional governance and
      development challenges. The successful candidate should be capable of
      Working as part of a team and have the ability to take initiative and
      exercise good judgment in public sessions. The Economic/Housing Research
      Analyst reports to the Assistant Planning Director.

      DUTIES INCLUDE: (The examples are representative and may not cover all
      duties which may
      be performed)

      * Gathering and analyzing economic, demographic, and housing data
      * Conducting research, Writing reports, and presenting information
      * Maintaining communication with related agencies
      * Keeping abreast of the most advanced land use analytical tools for
      economic, housing, demographic, and land use projections

      QUALIFICATIONS:
      * Knowledge of regional economic, demographic, housing, and land use issues
      * Understanding of the practical applications of land use models
      * Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      * Creative probIem~solving; good organization and documentation skills
      * Ability to establish and maintain good Working relationships with agency
      partners
      * Understanding local housing markets for both market rate and affordable
      housing
      * Experience or knowledge of the development entitlement process
