San Joaquin Council of Governments – Marketing/Communications/Planning Position
Location: Stockton, CA
Have you ever wondered “there’s got to be a better way” to give people
travel options than simply driving alone in order to improve air
quality and the environment? Have you ever wanted to be part of a
creative team that designs innovative strategies to get these “solo
drivers” to ride the bus, bike, walk, or carpool instead? If you have
experience in event promotions, marketing, customer service, and a
background or interest in the transportation field, this may be the
job for you.
The San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) is looking for an
individual for its Commute Connection division in the job position of
Regional Planner. Commute Connection is a “one stop shop” of
transportation information and referral services related to
carpooling, vanpooling, transit and rail, bicycling, walking, and park
and ride lots throughout San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Merced Counties.
SJCOG is looking for a dynamic individual who can come up with ideas
and “recruit” customers (commuters) and businesses to utilize the
various services. Take on the marketing/communications challenge of
“selling” transportation services that are free, yes free!

Candidate must be able to travel using own vehicle and have physical
ability to lift boxes and set-up tables and booths for events.
A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Planning, or related
field. Or, any combination of education and relevant work experience
in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
