      The East Bay Asian Youth Center (EBAYC) is a community-building
      organization dedicated to inspiring young people to be life-long
      builders of a just and compassionate multicultural society. EBAYC
      serves a racially, ethnically, and linguistically diverse membership
      of 1,000 children, youth, and families who reside in Oakland’s San
      Antonio neighborhood district.

      The Neighborhood Commercial Corridor Project Director is responsible
      for engaging and organizing residents, merchants, and other
      stakeholders along the International Blvd corridor to develop and
      implement the San Antonio Neighborhood Commercial Corridor Project, a
      comprehensive economic development initiative to direct public and
      private investment toward creating a thriving and self-sustaining
      neighborhood-serving commercial district on International Blvd.
      between 14th Avenue and 23rd Avenue.

      Principal Responsibilities

      1. In partnership with a consultant, conduct activities to attract
      social enterprises and other neighborhood-serving businesses to the
      commercial corridor.

      2. In partnership with merchants, residents, stakeholders, and public
      agencies, undertake actions to improve public safety along the
      commercial corridor, including prostitution-reduction campaigns;
      re-purposing problem properties; and planning and facilitating regular
      crime prevention meetings and neighborhood walks.

      3. In partnership with merchants, residents, stakeholders, and public
      agencies, conduct activities to improve the physical condition of the
      commercial corridor, including planning and implementing streetscape
      and business façade improvements; coordinating the creation of murals
      and other public art projects; and organizing community clean-ups.

      Desired Qualifications

      1. Five years of exemplary professional work experience in community
      economic development, community organizing, and/or policy advocacy.
      2. Demonstrated ability to work productively with city economic
      development and public safety staff, preferably in Oakland.
      3. Familiarity and comfort with resident-led community change approaches.
      4. Familiarity and comfort with low-income immigrant communities,
      preferably Oakland’s San Antonio neighborhood.
      5. Possess outstanding English writing skills and public speaking skills.

      Compensation
      $51,000.00 to $63,000.00 with benefits
