      SFpark internship

      Posted: 03 Jun 2012 08:43 PM PDT

Overview The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has
launched SFpark, a new brand for parking management in San Francisco.
Under the SFpark umbrella, the SFMTA is creating a coherent set of
parking policies, goals, plans, and programs that are consistent with
the agency\'s overall policy goals for managing transportation in San
Francisco. More information about SFpark can be found at sfpark.org.
SFpark is currently looking to fill an internship position in a
fast-paced, supportive environment designed to encourage professional
development. Our interns are challenged by difficult projects -- we
have a lot of work to do and they are asked and welcomed to contribute
as much as they are able. We require a strong work ethic, initiative,
and good organizational abilities, as the work often involves
operating independently and taking the lead on assignments. Current
responsibilities involve creating and modifying maps, assisting with
community outreach, performing design work for materials, collecting
and analyzing data, and creating reports to help shape policy. The
initial period of this contract will be for three months, and SFMTA
has the option to extend. The selected candidate will work full-time
at the SFMTA offices at One South Van Ness, and will be a valued
member of the team responsible for implementing SFpark and related
parking policies. SFpark is looking for applicants with strong
analytical, interpersonal, writing, and communications skills.
Applicants must be skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint,
and have at least basic GIS skills. More advanced GIS skills are
desirable. This is a hands-on role in a challenging environment. It is
also a unique opportunity to participate in the implementation and
evaluation of high-profile changes to parking management.
Responsibilities The internship will, at a minimum, involve the
following tasks: •Support projects related to the implementation of
SFpark and other supporting parking projects. •Assist with data
collection. •Assist with evaluation of the SFpark pilot projects.
•Support SFpark while conducting outreach with other departments
within the City and other stakeholders, including neighborhoods,
businesses, and other groups or members of the public. Qualifications
While people from all professions and backgrounds are encouraged to
apply, some qualifications are required while others are desirable.
Required •Three years of full-time work experience •Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills •Strong writing, analytical,
and presentation skills •Extreme attention to detail •Demonstrated
initiative and willingness to take on any task, however challenging or
mundane •Ability to work successfully in a diverse team •Ability
to work quickly under high pressure, aggressive schedules, and strict
deadlines •Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint •Basic proficiency with GIS •BA or BS Desirable
•Adept with GIS •Formal experience with performance measurement
and evaluation •Previous experience successfully navigating a
complex bureaucratic environment •Previous experience with rigorous
quantitative or financial analysis Compensation •The typical work
week will be 40-50 hours, Monday through Friday, with some weekend
work (for data collection). •Compensation will be $25/Hr •Position
