      Job Description:
      Affordable Housing Policy Intern

      CHPC is seeking a full-time, paid summer intern to assist the policy staff with projects that support our mission of preserving California's supply of affordable homes for lower income households.

      Location:

      June 11, 2012

      About CHPC:
The California Housing Partnership Corporation (CHPC) is a statewide nonprofit housing policy and financial consulting organization whose mission is to assist nonprofit and government agencies to create and preserve affordable housing for low income households.

      Primary Duties and Responsibilities
      • Conduct outreach to HUD-assisted property owners to determine their intentions of remaining in HUD Programs and/or inform them of their options to preserve the long-term affordability of their property. Track and analyze results; publish findings in the form of a final report. (40%)
      • Update CHPC databases, project records, directories, and listings. Create and maintain special project tracking reports and documentation. Provide administrative support to policy, preservation, and financial consulting teams. (40%)
      • Periodically conduct other policy research under the direction of CHPC's Housing Policy Manager. (20%)

      Qualifications
      • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to providing affordable housing for lower income Californians.
      • Strong analysis, research, writing and speaking skills. Prior experience with telephone outreach a plus.
      Confident and calm telephone presence.
      • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to set priorities, juggle multiple tasks, organize time, and meet assigned deadlines.
      • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
      • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a close working environment with evolving priorities.
      • Ability to understand and contribute to CHPC organizational structure, work, and administrative systems.
      • Highly detail oriented; our ideal candidate monitors and double checks work and information for accuracy and quality.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Macintosh platform, and traditional office equipment is essential.
