      Work Program for Intern


      The City of Orinda �s Planning Department is recruiting an intern to assist in the development of its web page.  This web page will be designed to improve customer service and provide information normally conveyed at the front counter or via telephone.  We are expecting that this web page will reduce the volume of simple questions and requests. 


      Desirable experience

      HTML and web programming experience

      Background in Planning


      Required Skills

      Ability to work independently

      Ability to communicate ideas verbally and graphically

      Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, and web-designing software

      Proficiency with Microsoft Access a plus


      Tasks to be preformed


      1)         Website Development

      Develop and prepare application forms so that they can be easily accessible online

      Display information in a clear and understandable format


      2)         Website Design

      Develop a process (via the website) to improve customer service

      Design a visually attractive and user-friendly layout of for the City of Orinda Planning Department�s web page


      3)                  Creation of a Parcel Information retrieval page

      Develop a web-based form to retrieve parcel information from our permit tracking system (familiarity with web programming and database management required for this task)


      4)         Additional miscellaneous tasks
