The Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG), the
Metropolitan Planning Organization for the counties of Monterey, Santa
Cruz and San Benito, is located along California’s beautiful Central
Coast, with offices located about 100 miles south of San Francisco.
The Association is recruiting for a planner to work in a challenging
environment with interests in data analysis, GIS, public outreach,
land use and transportation planning with strengths in desktop
publishing, and organizing work time efficiently and productively. The
position is funded up to two years, based on available funding, and
may be extended pending funding availability.

We now seek a highly responsible and motivated planner to participate
in the development of the first Sustainable Communities Strategy in
the Monterey Bay Area. Required under SB 375, the Strategy will
provide for reducing per capita greenhouse gas emissions from cars and
light trucks as the result of improved coordination between land use
and transportation investments. The incumbent will work on several
components of the effort, including work on a Complete Streets
initiative, and aspects of the Metropolitan Transportation Plan. The
incumbent will be assigned to work on other interesting projects, as

Bachelor's degree in Planning, Geography or closely related field; one
to two years of experience in transportation planning, regional
planning, or other planning experience; A Master’s degree may
      substitute two years of experience.
Excellent benefits, salary commensurate with experience. Interested
candidates please visit AMBAG’s website, www.ambag.org, to download
the application form and supplemental questionnaire. A complete
application form, a resume, questionnaire and a coverletter must be
      submitted by October 24, 2011.
