SAN FRANICSCO PLANNING DEPARTMENT
INTERNSHIP (CURRENT PLANNING)
The Current Planning Division of the San Francisco Planning Department
is currently looking for up to 8 Unpaid Planning Interns to work with
Planning Staff on a variety of planning duties. This will be a
rewarding and valuable experience for those interested in the Planning
field and desire introductory work experience or college credit.
Planning Interns will assist in the preparation of planning research,
surveys and projects, as well as collect and analyze data for planning
work related to historic preservation, code enforcement, public
information counter, and current planning (implementation) projects.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
1. Assists in preparing, checking, maintaining and reviewing
technical records and reports.
2. Assists in preparing maps, charts, photographs and other graphic
presentations to illustrate planning information.
3. Assists in research, data collection and field investigations.
Interns should be available to work at least 16 hours per week during
regular business hours, for at least a 12 week period of time. (Full
time is also possible).
Training and Experience:
General knowledge of planning and urban design principals, familiarity
with land use planning, database management techniques, ability to
interpret data and to prepare and present written reports; and strong
written and oral communication skills. A baccalaureate degree in City
or Regional Planning or related field is desired.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Proficiency
with GIS and PowerPoint is desired.
