      About the Role
      The EAG Corridor Manager is responsible for leading a collaborative effort to implement the Excelsior Corridor Program, a comprehensive economic development program in the heart of San Francisco's Excelsior neighborhood. The Program aims to direct public and private investment – both money and time – towards the goal of creating a vital, thriving, and self-sustaining commercial district on Mission Street that provides jobs, shops, places to gather and cultural amenities.
      The Corridor Manager will be located in the heart of the Excelsior and his/her work is guided by an annual Action Plan that is created by Excelsior stakeholders, a collaborative group comprised of residents, merchants and community organizations actively developing & implementing a vision to stabilize and revitalize the commercial district. The Action Plan includes activities of the EAG and partners to strengthen the physical, social, and economic character of the neighborhood by improving safety and cleanliness, coordinating beautification projects, recruiting businesses to fill vacant retail space, recruiting and influencing physical development and design on the corridor, promoting the shopping district to neighborhood people and others around the city, holding events to highlight local businesses and bring together members of the diverse community, and developing community pride. EAG is funded by Bay Area LISC and the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development.

      The Organization
      The Corridor Manager leads Excelsior Action Group (EAG). EAG is fiscally sponsored by Community Initiatives . EAG is overseen by a Steering Committee. This position reports directly to the Steering Committee. EAG's mission is to revitalize the Excelsior's commercial corridor by involving residents, merchants, neighbors, and city agencies through activities to reinvigorate, green, beautify, strengthen, and unify our community. EAG plans several events annually, undertakes other efforts to promote the shopping district, builds local leadership and capacity, and convenes diverse stakeholders to work towards a vision for the community. A seminal event for EAG is its annual Arts and Music Festival and the director has lead responsibility for fundraising and coordination and implementation of the festival which will celebrate its 10th anniversary October 2012. Currently, the Manager has responsibility for supervision of one Americorps Member.

      Essential Duties Areas
      • Responsible for the day to day operations of EAG
      • Grants Management ; insures timely and accurate reports and adherence to grant requirements

      • Board Development, Retention and Recruitment
      • Community and Partner Relations
      • Communications and External Relations


      Specific Duties
      Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, City officials, foundations and other partners
      Implement Commercial Corridor Action Plan with a variety of activities in the areas of economic development (small business development, attraction, and support), beautification & design, and marketing
      Plan and lead community meetings and oversee the coordination of committees
      In collaboration with EAG Steering Committee, Develop and manage EAG organizational and program budgets, work with fiscal sponsor to manage and oversee contracts, invoices and accounts payable
      Fundraise and assist with fundraising for collaborative and individual projects-
      Take lead role insuring the successful implementation of EAG's Annual Arts and Music Festival
      Communicate regularly to the Steering Committee as well as report outcomes, successes, challenges, and programmatic needs as required by program partners and funders
      Maintain outcome tracking and participant/stakeholder database
      Identify and pursue additional opportunities that will meet the mission of EAG and broader community goals

      Desired skills and qualifications
      The Corridor Manager must have the following:
      Experience leading and facilitating community planning processes
      High level of comfort with the following: meeting facilitation, developing program goals and outcomes, meeting with funders and interested partners and volunteers, negotiation and funds development
      Must have strong written and verbal communications skills
      Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deadlines and work independently
      Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in diverse communities
      Ability to prioritize tasks, maintain sense of humor and positive attitude .
      Bilingual, Spanish and/or Cantonese/Mandarin speaking strongly preferred but not required.
      B. A. in a related field preferred; work experience in community organizing, neighborhood service provision, community/economic development or related fields a plus
