      Founded in 1965, the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development
      Commission (BCDC) is the federally designated state coastal management
      agency for the San Francisco Bay. BCDC has regulatory and planning
      authority over development in San Francisco Bay and along the Bay's
      nine-county shoreline. This award-winning agency is seeking
      enthusiastic interns to work at our San Francisco office.

      Currently, there is one internship available within the Planning
      Division. The intern will assist staff responding to public comments
      on the proposed amendments to the San Francisco Bay Plan dealing with
      climate change. The intern will also assist with other Planning
      Division related projects. This internship is an ideal opportunity to
      work within the planning profession while learning about climate
      change policy issues.

      Desired Qualifications:
      • education and/or experience with planning and policy analysis
      • knowledge of climate change issues, particularly sea level rise
      • familiarity with BCDC and the San Francisco Bay Plan
      • ability to work independently and as part of a team and write clearly

      About the Position:
      This position is a volunteer position. Ideally, candidates will be
      able to work a minimum of 16 hours per week for at least three months.

      Eligibility:
      Open to students and non-students. Ideally, applicants will have a
      background in urban, regional, or environmental planning,
      environmental law, environmental science, economics, natural resources
      management, ecology, geography, earth or natural science, civil
      engineering, law, political science, public administration, or a
      related field.
