Firmwide Director of Urban Design and Planning
      Breuer Consulting Group
Location: Washington, DC, or San Francisco, or Los Angeles, , United
      States
      Posted on: September 14, 2010
Category: Architecture, Planning / Land Use, Urban Design
      Experience: More than 10 years

Our client, one of the fastest growing and successful US AE firms wants to
offer a variety of services beyond the traditional for firms of their size
and scope. A formalized planning and urban design practice is an obvious
next step. They seek an individual to grow a physical planning practice
based in Washington D.C., San Francisco or Los Angeles. (Other locations
might be considered). This is not a strictly policy-planning position: it
      is design-focused.

The Firmwide Director of Urban Design and Planning, requires unquestioned
leadership in design, business development and project delivery. This
seasoned professional will independently lead projects for a wide variety
of clients consistent with the goals of the firm globally.

The Director would be expected to create a Business Plan and develop the
practice through the acquisition of new clients including:
X Extending existing relationships (both the Director’s and the firm’s)
X Making presentations to a variety of public and private potential
      clients
X Working with firm leadership to establish strategy and respond to
      opportunities
X Working closely with the firm’s architectural leadership to serve
clients of the firm with a broader range of services
      X Participating in indirect marketing initiatives (e.g. workshops;
roundtables; articles; panels, etc.) which enhance the group as a whole
Over time, the Director of Planning would be expected to build a team of
professionals globally, organize the staff assigned to selected projects
by providing direction, monitoring, and day-to day guidance, participating
in project design development and providing guidance as needed to project
staff. Clearly, this is a position for an experienced professional …
      probably 15+ years of professional architecture/urban design/planning
      experience.

If you have a degree in Architecture and/or Urban Design and are up for
this challenge, we’d like to talk with you. Send your resume in confidence
      to susanfaigen@....
