Planning Internship with Sausalito's Community Development Department

The City of Sausalito is recruiting a Planning Intern for our Community
The Planning Intern will assist the Department with a land use and
business inventory of the Marinship Area in Sausalito. The Marinship has a
rich history of being an area where supply ships were built during World
War II and currently supports Industrial and marine-oriented uses. The
land use/business inventory task includes an on-the-ground survey of all
land uses and businesses in the Marinship area, the analysis of the
information and the production of a report. The task may include a
presentation to the City Council or Planning Commission.
Required skills and qualifications:
Qualified candidates for the Planning Intern position must have excellent
oral and written communication skills, a basic understanding of land use
planning and development regulations, research/analytical skills, computer
skills, the ability to make progress on multiple tasks at one time, and
have a strong work ethic.
The preferred applicant will be interested in pursuing planning as their
Undergraduates and graduate students in a planning program, or entry-level
planners are encouraged to apply.
A 4-6 week commitment at least 20 hours per week is required, beginning in
August 2010. This will be an unpaid internship.
