Please join ASCE Golden Gate Branch and Women’s Transportation Seminar
(WTS) for a dinner meeting on Thursday, June 24, 2010. We will hear an
exciting presentation by Susan Miller of CCTA and Cristina Ferraz of
Caltrans on key projects currently taking place and planned to be
constructed in Contra Costa County and along Interstate 80 Corridor
including the Caldecott Tunnel Fourth Bore, State Route 4 Widening, and
the East County Rail Extension (eBART).

Susan Miller, P.E., is a Director of Projects, Contra Costa Transportation
Authority (CCTA). She graduated from the University of California at
Berkeley with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. Ms. Miller has
twenty-three years of experience in project management and design of
transportation projects on local, state and federal systems. Ms. Miller
has worked with the CCTA for thirteen years, where her duties have
included assisting in the programming of projects for state and federal
funding, project controls effort and direct management of consultant
design teams. Several of her current projects include the widening of
State Route 4 (east) from Loveridge to SR-160, the I-680/SR-4 Interchange
environmental document as well as continuing effort on the BART/e-BART
      extension in East County.

Cristina Ferraz, P.E. is a Regional Project Manager for Caltrans District
      4. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. degree
in Civil Engineering. Cristina has been working with the California
Department of Transportation for over 20 years, focusing her experience in
construction contract administration and project management. She has been
managing various transportation projects on State Routes 13 and 24,
including the Caldecott Fourth Bore project.
Recently, Cristina started managing the Interstate 80 Integrated Corridor
Management (ICM) project. This project uses Intelligent Transportation
Systems (ITS) elements and innovative management techniques to dynamically
manage recurrent and non-recurrent congestion. This project is considered
a pilot project in California, showcasing implementation of new strategies
for incident and traffic management and traveler information services.
