RE: California Pre-Doctoral Program
Application forms for the 2003-2004 Pre-Doctoral Program are available
in the SJSU Graduate Studies & Research office, and also on-line at:
http://www.calstate.edu/PreDoc/. Each Pre-Doctoral award is $ 3,000.
The California Pre-Doctoral Program is designed to increase the
diversity of the pool of potential faculty by supporting the doctoral
aspirations of CSU students.
Each of the selected pre-doctoral scholars works closely with a
California State University faculty sponsor to develop an overall plan
leading ultimately to enrollment in a doctoral program. Each plan is
tailored to specific goals and educational objectives of the student.
To be eligible to receive funds, applicants must be enrolled at SJSU
during both the application period (Spring 2003) and at least one term
of the following academic year (2003-2004). Graduate students in the
CSU, especially those from groups underrepresented in their fields,
receive funding for: visits to PhD granting institutions to explore
opportunities for doctoral study; travel to a national symposium or
professional meeting; membership in professional organizations and
journal subscriptions; graduate school applications and test fees. Those
who receive the award are eligible to participate in a fully funded
summer research internship at a doctoral-granting campus.
Applications and faculty sponsor forms may be obtained online at
http://www.calstate.edu/PreDoc/ . The SJSU campus will supply needed
transcripts at no cost to the student.
The campus deadline for completed applications and faculty sponsor forms
is APRIL 1, 2003. Please submit all materials to the Graduate Studies &
Research Office on or before that date.
