The Yerba Buena Community Benefit District is a nonprofit organization
that works to advance the quality of life for residents and visitors in
the Yerba Buena neighborhood of San Francisco by fostering a safer and
more secure community, enhancing environmental quality and beauty, and
reinforcing the vitality of the economic base. Our goals are to improve
safety and security in the neighborhood; increase cleanliness and expand
the beauty of the Yerba Buena Gardens with greening activities throughout
the neighborhood; define and brand the neighborhood to increase visitors,
business, and community recognition while helping people effectively
navigate the neighborhood; increase the economic viability of the
neighborhood; and create an ideal place to live, work, study, and visit.
The organization began official operations in January 2009.
The YBCBD is seeking two 10-week full-time summer interns to coordinate
time-sensitive projects. An example of projects to be completed includes
determining neighborhood demographics, conducting an inventory of security
cameras, informing the neighborhood – specifically residents – of services
provided, developing/designing a contact database, and researching
potential funding sources.
Interns will work under the supervision of the Administrative Manager.
While work hours are typically 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through
Friday, some evening and weekend work may be required.
Candidates considering applying for this position should have the
�X Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite required (Word, Excel,
Outlook, and Power Point).
�X Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate
effectively with the public, board members, and staff.
�X Excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple
tasks and priorities.
Each intern may be paid up to $5,000 before taxes for the 10-week period,
depending on experience and whether or not course credits may be earned.
