The intern will work with staff in the City Manager’s Office on the High
Speed Rail project by researching and summarizing documents produced by
High Speed Rail Authority, updating City websites, working with volunteer
groups and make presentations to City and community stakeholders. The
intern will be involved with the largest transportation project ever
envisioned in California and the largest capital project contemplated in
the nation. There would be opportunity for the intern to see first hand
political decision making at the regional, state and national level. The
intern would also have exposure to a cross section of internal City
departments who also have a role in the implementation of high speed rail.

Please note: This is a Volunteer opportunity. There will be no salary or
      stipend offered.

The intern will work with staff in the Planning and Community Environment
Department to assist in implementation of the Palo Alto Green Building
Program. The intern will learn the green building rating systems and how
they aid at achieving reduced community environmental impact and improved
community health. Additionally how the impact of reduction and improvement
is measured, and is used to inform public policy. Projects will vary. The
intern will learn how sustainable city programs can be developed,
implemented, and successfully measured, and more importantly will learn
the role green building plays in reducing our impact on the environment
      and human health.
