Primarily responsible for development of transportation and transit
planning business within the firm, with a focus in the San Francisco Bay
Area, California and the Western U.S. Multi-modal/bus/rail projects (light
rail, commuter rail, high speed rail). Develop business and work with
staff in performing transportation and transit planning projects. Assist
other staff members on problems of transportation or transit planning.
Direct transportation planning projects. Perform technical analyses and
prepare reports. Assist in the direction of projects requiring peripheral
transportation planning expertise. Develop and maintain project budget
systems. Set work priorities for employees and schedule project execution.
Responsible for ensuring projects are performed within budget and

and implementation programming, report writing, graphics preparation,
client relations meetings, and public information meetings. Provide
specialized planning information, data, and analysis as required by the
nature of the assigned project.
Coordinate and supervise efforts of a planning group to perform studies
and services as required. Normally acts as Project Leader for projects
dealing with planning issues in his/her specialty. Supervise other
planners in preparation of studies and reports. Provides technical
direction in all phases of studies and performs technical services where
necessary. Review studies prepared by others in the planning group.
Interface with clients on projects and attend public meetings and
conferences in association with projects.
•Responsible for the coordination and management of all aspects to ensure
that projects are completed within the scheduled and budget and to the

•Estimates fees, determines work scope and prepares proposals for
contracts for large scale projects
•Coordinates all work efforts among project team, project sub-consultants
and other disciplines as necessary.
•Manages client’s budget, schedule and program, HNTB budget and schedule.
•Manages project communications and documentation.
•Manages administrative tasks related to the project, including project
team assignments and scheduling.
•Reviews work of other team members for accuracy and completeness.
•Coordinates and communicates regularly with group director and office
leader on progress of projects.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites.
•GIS a plus
•Working knowledge of transit agencies or public agencies in the Bay area
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Urban Design, Planning, Architecture
or related field plus 10-15 years of experience.
AICP is preferred. LEED AP is a plus
