Engagement to find a Senior Permitting practitioner for one of the state's most respected private environmental firms and I wanted to network with you a bit.
The client has specifically tasked us with finding the most capable individual available to direct and drive regulatory permitting and compliance activities for all projects here in the San Francisco Bay Area; although this person could also potentially be based out of any number of the firm's southern California offices. This is a very unique and rare opportunity to build upon existing staff and client relationships for one of the industry's most reputable consulting firms, as well as become one of the key members of the organization's compliance practice.
Ideally, the right individual would have well-established credentials and experience with biological resources, wetlands or regulatory compliance in environmental consulting. This would include hands-on experience in wetlands regulatory permitting, states and federal permitting as well as endangered species documentation work. Ideally, a solid ground work of compliance activities and history of interaction with the Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, California Department of Fish and Game, Regional Water Quality Control Board and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration would be desired. Prior experience with Sections 404, 401 and 106 would be strongly preferred.
Broad-based experience is desired with the individual holding the post being charged with strategizing and managing complex regulatory permitting efforts on behalf of clients and in negotiation, or conjunction, with agencies and public concerns. This might include quite a bit of interaction outside the region with a number of other organizational, science and project leaders throughout the organization's various branch offices.
The client is a nationally recognized firm leading the way in natural resources, biological, compliance- based environmental consulting looking to significantly expand their permitting presence.
Traditionally, their practice has focused on CEQA/NEPA related compliance, environmental permitting, resource studies, land use planning and public involvement programs for water, energy, infrastructure, recreation and land development activities. But, the organization's nationwide resources also give them significant technical strength in air quality and noise management; environmental liability; EHS; and very comprehensive alternative energy services abilities.
Their California operations have specifically achieved enormous success in the last few years and are growing quite rapidly; adding a number of high profile clients and projects in recent months with doubling of staff.
With this solid growth also now being fed work from other branches, the organization has immediate needs for a permitting specialist to join the firm and tackle a number of key projects. Additionally, while they are specifically looking for an experienced permitting practitioner / specialist or project manager to join their organization, with their capabilities and resources, they would be willing to consider merging in an individual that has a small, independent consulting practice or group of personnel into the firm that might have permitting specialization.
The firm offers a very competitive salary, performance/spot bonuses and extensive benefits package (Health / Dental / Vision, Life and AD&D Insurance, Flexible Spending, 125 cafeteria plan, Flexible work schedule, Vacation, etc.), and works hard to structure opportunities that help individuals develop and progress both personally and professionally.
While this individual would ideally be located in the San Francisco / Bay Area, the position could essentially be based nearly in any one of their California facilities.
