      Planning Division Internship
      Founded in 1965, the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development
      Commission (BCDC) is the federally designated state coastal management
      agency for the San Francisco Bay. BCDC has regulatory and planning
      authority over development in San Francisco Bay and along the Bay's
      nine-county shoreline. This award-winning agency is seeking
      enthusiastic interns to work at our San Francisco office.
      Currently, there is one GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
      internship available within the Planning Division. The intern will
      primarily research, analyze and digitize historic data within BCDC�s
      public access, permit, dredging and planning programs. The intern may
      also assist with other Planning Division related projects. This
      internship is an ideal opportunity to work within the planning
      profession while increasing GIS skills.

      Desired Qualifications:
      - education and/or experience with ESRI�s GIS software, including
      ArcMap, ArcCatalog and ArcToolbox

      - knowledge of mapping and cartographic techniques

      - ability to work independently and as part of a team

      About the Position: This position is a volunteer and unpaid position.
      Ideally, candidates will be able to work a minimum of 16 hours per
      week for at least three months.

      Eligibility:
      Open to students and non students. Ideally, applicants will have a
      background in urban, regional, or environmental planning,
      environmental law, environmental science, economics, natural resources
      management, ecology, geography, earth or natural science, civil
      engineering, law, political science, public administration, or a
      related field.
