Plans, develops, and leads public involvement strategies and programs for
transportation, environmental, municipal and governmental clients to
facilitate communication and acceptance of projects and initiatives. 7 to
10 years experience with major, complex infrastructure, planning and
transportation projects with public outreach, communications and
governmental affairs components. Duties may include management of public
engagement elements relative to multiple transportation, environmental,
municipal and governmental affairs clients. Additional skills duties
include expertise with technical and persuasive writing, communications
plan development, presentation materials development, creation of press
materials, public speaking skills, public notifications and/or project
specific meetings. Experience with public affairs and media relations
Skills and Knowledge:
Expertise developing and implementing public involvement strategies and
programs for transportation and planning agencies, local/regional
government clients and local/regional transportation entities to
facilitate effective communication and consensus building for major
projects and initiatives. Recent experience developing/presenting
environmental and transportation materials to professional public/agency
stakeholders and environmental audiences. Additional experience with
developing project reports, Memorandums of Understanding (MOU), event
planning, communication materials development (including fact sheets,
electronic alerts, also web based and interactive content), and database
development/maintenance. Experience with grassroots advocacy and coalition
building a plus. Ability to work as part of a team as well as
independently is critical. Must be able to meet multiple deadlines and
prioritize work well.
Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Political
Science, or related area plus 7-10 years of experience.
There may be occasions that the employee needs to work outside the
standard office hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Must
possess a valid California driver’s license, proof of insurance and
Starting Salary: $81,216 to $121,824 plus benefits.
