Position Title: Commercial Corridor Manager
Organization: Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center
Reports to: SNBC�s Sunset Community Convener
Non-Exempt, Part Time
Hourly rate: $25.00/hour
Hours: 10 hours per week, with exact hours negotiable. Evening and weekend
meetings are likely.
Start date: Position available beginning September 1.
The mission of the Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center (SNBC) is to provide
supports and opportunities to
ensure the healthy development of children, youth, and adults in the Sunset
District of San Francisco. SNBC
provides a wide array of free programs, services, and events that promote
education, recreation, and community
The Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center is working with Office of Economic and
Workforce Development and
local community partners to identify candidates for the Commercial Corridor
Manager position for the Taraval
Commercial Corridor in Parkside neighborhood of the Sunset District.
The Commercial Corridor Manager works directly with community residents,
merchants and community
organizations to actively develop and implement a vision to stabilize and
revitalize the Taraval Commercial
Corridor district, which includes Taraval Street west of 19th Avenue. Goals
include strengthening the physical,
social, and economic character of the neighborhood by promoting the shopping
district within the neighborhood
and to others throughout the city, establishing sustainable partnerships
within the community, and coordinating
events to highlight local businesses.
� Provide strategic vision and leadership to shape the ongoing development
of the Taraval Commercial Corridor
� Monitor and update the annual Taraval Commercial Corridor Community Action
Plan created through
� Facilitate community meetings and coordinate working committees.
� Perform targeted outreach to individuals and merchants to increase
participation and diversity in the
� Educate and work with city officials to promote and advance the Community
Action Plan goals.
� Maintain and update building and business inventory database for the
Office of Economic and Workforce
� Work with SNBC supervisor to manage annual project budget.
� Assist with fundraising for specific projects that advance the goals of
the Taraval Commercial Corridor
Program, especially grant writing, and administer funds received and ensure
that communications with
funders are provided on time and in a professional manner.
� Represent self and Agency in a professional manner.
� Support and model the values of SNBC, and its lead agency, Aspiranet.
� Demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences.
� Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with staff, parents,
children, and community.
� Bachelor�s degree or a minimum of three years experience in community
development, public policy, urban
development, or business development.
� Experience with event planning, project management, group facilitation,
public relations, and public speaking.
� Experience with community planning or organizing a plus.
� Demonstrated ability to be a leader and work as a member of a team.
� Proven success in recruiting and managing volunteers.
� Experience working with small businesses.
� Ability to work autonomously.
� Bilingual in English and Cantonese is a plus.
� Able to prioritize tasks and maintain sense of humor and positive attitude
in a fast paced environment.
� Health/TB Clearance.
� Fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice.
� Valid California Identification or California Drivers License with driving
record and proof of vehicle insurance (if
