Apply for the Rail~Volution Bay Area Scholarship
Every year Rail~Volution brings together over 1,000 attendees and speakers
from across the country to share their experience and lessons learned in
building livable communities with transit. Rail~Volution is a conference
for passionate practitioners -- people from all perspectives who believe
strongly in the role of land use and transit as equal partners in the
quest for greater livability and greater communities. Rail~Volution will
include over 80 different sessions, workshops, mobile tours, and
The Bay Area RV Steering Committee, who coordinated local programs for
Rail~Volution held in San Francisco last year, is offering targeted
scholarships to attend Rail~Volution 2009 in Boston (October 29 to
November 1). Bay Area government (local, regional, transit or elected)
officials and advocates working together to build livable communities near
transit are invited to apply to this program.
Applicants must apply to the program as partners working on a
transit-oriented development (TOD) site in the Bay Area (one local
leader/advocate AND one government staff/elected). Scholarship recipients
are required to attend 1 or 2 networking sessions with fellow scholarship
recipients during and/or after the conference. The dates will be finalized
after scholarships are awarded.
If selected, each scholarship recipient would be awarded with:
- Travel reimbursement for air travel only (up to $600/person);
- Waived registration ($425 value); and
- Provision of homestay placement in Boston
