The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) was created by the state
legislature in 1970 to provide transportation planning for the 9-county SF
Bay Area, functions as the transportation-planning agency for the region.
MTC administers federal moneys, as well as state and regional funds,
overseeing the efficiency and effectiveness of the region’s transportation
Salary: DOQ, up to $134,853 dental, vision, PERS retirement, life, &
disability. Up to 38 days paid leave, in 1st yr.
PRINCIPAL PLANNER ANALYST, Travel Models: Under the general supervision of
the Section Director the individual in this position will act as project
staff lead for MTC activities related to the development, maintenance,
calibration and application of regional travel demand models, GIS, and
regional transportation databases. The incumbent will be responsible for
(a) maintaining and applying a set of regional travel demand models, (b)
acquiring, maintaining and analyzing major databases to support model
estimation, model calibration and model validation, (c) providing
lead-level technical support for MTC planning analyses, (d) managing the
MTC Geographic Information Systems (GIS) unit, and (e) providing liaison
with County Congestion Management Agencies, the California Department of
Transportation, transit operators, and others as required to maintain an
advanced analytical infrastructure at MTC.
Requires: Completion of a bachelor's degree in a discipline such as: urban
planning, transportation planning or engineering, public administration,
or information systems. A graduate degree is preferred. Minimum of four
years of increasingly responsible experience in a field related to the
position with a master's degree. Alternatively, five years of relevant
experience with a bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of
education and experience.
