The San Francisco Redevelopment Agency is seeking a creative,
implementation-oriented Senior Planner to work on Redevelopment Project
Areas throughout the City, with particular focus on the project areas in
San Francisco?s southeast neighborhoods, including Bayview Hunters Point.
Key job functions include:
? Leading area planning and policy efforts, focusing on land use,
urban design, development economics, regulatory issues, and implementation
? Managing community planning processes, including designing and
leading public workshops, facilitating meetings among diverse
stakeholders, and attending and presenting at community advisory committee
meetings, including evening meetings.
? Devising and leading implementation efforts for area plans and
? Leading streetscape and open space design processes, creating
design standards and guidelines for development projects, and
participating in design review of both public and private projects.
? Managing external consultants, including selection, contract
negotiations, and contract administration.
? Preparing redevelopment plans and plan amendments, including
oversight of technical consultants and review of technical plan documents.
? Preparing memoranda, reports and other documents for a range of
audience to support policy and plan recommendations, and presenting
recommendations to the Redevelopment Commission and other policy-making
? Collaborating with Agency and City Planning Department staff on
general plan and zoning code reviews.
? Demonstrated ability to manage and lead planning projects, strong
written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving skills, and
ability to work in diverse communities.
? Understanding of urban infill development, redevelopment
processes, environmental review, community participation strategies,
sustainable development, and project implementation
A Bachelor?s Degree from an accredited college or university in planning,
architecture, social sciences or a related field, and six years of
progressively responsible experience in urban planning. A master?s degree
in city or urban planning is desired but not required.
