      I am pleased to announce the availability of the 2009-2010 Graduate Equity
      Fellowship Awards.

      The purpose of the Graduate Equity Fellowship Program is to encourage and
      assist students in pursuing and completing a master?s degree and securing
      careers in post-secondary education. This fellowship is available only to
      California resident graduate students with financial need. Students must
      demonstrate a minimum financial need of $1,000. In order to find out if
      they are eligible to receive financial aid, students must complete a Free
      Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) via http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
      and submit it to the Financial Aid Office. A copy of the FAFSA form must
      be attached to the Graduate Equity Fellowship Program application form.

      Under the Graduate Equity Fellowship Program, awards of up to $3,000 are
      made to graduate students admitted and enrolled in a master?s degree
      program at San Jose State University for the 2009-2010 academic year.
      Credential ONLY candidates are not eligible. Students must be enrolled
      in both academic terms and complete a minimum of 6 units in each term.
      These 12 units must appear on the students? Advancement to Candidacy

      Applications are available in the Office of Graduate Studies & Research in
      the Administration Building, Room 223B, and on line at
      The applications will be reviewed by the Graduate Fellowship Program
      Committee, and eligibility will be assessed on the basis of financial
      need, academic standing, and career goals. The completed applications are
      due in Graduate Studies & Research, Administration Building, Room 223B, no
      later than Monday, June 22, 2009, at 4:30pm. Any applications with
      missing documentation will not be considered by the committee. Fellowship
      awards will be announced by Monday, August 3, 2009, and are subject to
      funding availability.
