      Organizational Overview

      The Insight Center for Community Economic Development (Insight Center) is
      a 40 year old national research, consulting, and legal organization
      dedicated to helping vulnerable people and communities become, and remain,
      economically secure.

      The Insight Center offers an excellent benefit package that includes

      Position Overview
      The Economic Security Initiative seeks to increase the number of people
      able to cover their day-to-day needs and develop savings and assets in the
      long-term. We work in collaboration with a range of partners to identify
      and close the gap between what individuals and families need to cover
      their costs and their available resources. We also develop and promote
      new standards for measuring programs and policies designed to help working
      families and retired seniors.

      As part of this effort, the Insight Center leads Californians for Economic
      Security, a broad-based coalition comprised of legislators, advocates,
      direct service providers, researchers, and foundations that support
      policies that build economic security for families, elders, and the
      communities in which they live. In the coming year, we will work with our
      partners in Mississippi to strengthen their capacity to develop, maintain
      and engage a statewide coalition of diverse stakeholders around family
      economic self sufficiency.

      Organizational Approach
      The Insight Center uses a team-based approach so that staff work across
      various program areas. The Program Manager will work as an integral part
      of a team including the Director of the Economic Security Initiative and
      external partners and consultants, and may also work on projects in other
      program areas.

      Profile of the Successful Candidate
      The successful candidate will be a systems thinker with a passion for
      Insight Center?s mission, comfortable with interacting with diverse
      people, have strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and the
      ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

      Principal Responsibilities
      ? Serve as primary leader and technical assistance provider in
      ? Identify needs of Mississippi partners and provide local
      organizing/coalition building assistance
      ? Conduct a state scan, interviews, and a qualitative analysis of
      the current programmatic and policy advocacy strategies being employed in
      Mississippi to help families reach economic security
      ? Develop and conduct trainings with local partners, based on
      current best practices in helping communities achieve economic security
      ? Assess current case management data tracking systems in programs
      designed to help people reach economic self-sufficiency in Mississippi
      ? Analyze local economic security policies and provide support for
      advocacy efforts, as needed
      ? Produce reports and other informational materials; become a public
      spokesperson on these issues; coordinate public release of reports
      ? Contribute to the overall Economic Security Initiative, including
      assistance with fund development and supporting related projects

      Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
      ? A passion for policy and systems change to benefit low-income,
      disadvantaged persons and communities
      ? Excellent coalition building and community organizing skills
      ? Strong research, writing and oral presentation skills
      ? Proven capacity to build strong organizational partnerships across
      a wide array of sectors and diverse populations
      ? Demonstrated capacity to conduct trainings and facilitate meetings
      with external stakeholders
      ? Demonstrated capacity to fundraise
      ? Experience in program evaluation and development, including data
      ? Experience in policy development and/or advocacy
      ? Knowledge or experience in economic security work a plus
      ? Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and organizational
      ? A team player
      ? Self-directed
      ? Comfortable with contemporary office software
      ? Willingness to travel
