Description of Topic: Discussion on Mandating Green Building: Sticks v. Carrots - States, municipalities, and local government agencies across California are expanding green design and construction into public policy. Various public entities are mandating green building and/or are creating incentives to achieve various city wide goals, expedite building permits, density bonuses, and reduce permitting fees. However, some developers and contractors argue that the move toward more green building will create an obstacle for developing land. This debate will give participants a closer look at how professionals are dealing with these challenges and incentives.
AICP Certification Maintenance credits have been applied for and are under review by APA National.
