      Location:
      1250 San Carlos Avenue, San Carlos, California

      Summary:
      This position plays a critical role in advancing Peninsula Corridor Joint
      Powers Board, San Mateo County Transportation Authority, and SamTrans
      capital projects. The capital projects range from less than a million to
      over several hundreds of millions of dollars. Types of projects range from
      bike and pedestrian improvements to highway and local road improvements to
      major rail enhancements, such as the Caltrain Electrification Project.

      Functions and Duties:
      * Manage environmental planning projects and coordinate with project
      managers to environmentally clear capital projects.
      * Manage effective working relationships with key environmental clearance
      and permitting offices (SHPO, FTA Regional Office, ACOE, and others).
      * Manage environmental planning public outreach efforts and make
      presentations.
      * Provide professional advice to senior management on environmental
      planning matters.
      * Supervise staff assigned to environmental planning.
      * Performs other duties as assigned.

      Supervision:
      Works under the general supervision of the Director, Planning and
      Development, who evaluates performance.

      Qualifications:
      Sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate the
      knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of
      the position. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is
      typically obtained through but not limited to: Bachelor?s degree in urban
      planning, environmental planning, engineering, or a closely related field,
      and sufficient full-time progressively responsible experience in the above
      disciplines, or a combination of education and experience demonstrating
      the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the
      position.
