      Subject: Notice of Availability of the Draft Environmental Impact Report for the
      Santa Clara � Alum Rock Transit Improvement Project

      Notice is hereby given that the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the Santa Clara � Alum Rock Transit Improvement Project.

      The DEIR evaluate impacts of providing transit improvements, including Phase I: Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and Phase II: Light Rail Transit (LRT), from the San Jose Diridon Station on the west to the Eastridge Transit Center on the east.

      Significant effects of the project described in the environmental document are mitigated to a level of less than significant except for peak period electricity demand for LRT.

      Copies of the DEIR are available for review at VTA�s Environmental Planning Department, 3331 N. First Street, San Jose, and also at downtown San Jose libraries. For further information call (408) 321-5789.

      A Public Hearing is scheduled to provide information on the DEIR and receive comments from the community regarding the DEIR on:

      Time: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
