      Salary: The hourly rate is $15.00.

      Job Description
      The Information Technology Services Department is seeking an
      enthusiastic Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Intern to assist in
      the development and revision of data used to aid Emergency Response.
      This position offers an individual the opportunity to work within an
      established and innovative Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
      Division while performing focused and detail oriented work. This is a
      seven (7) month internship position. This position may work up to
      twenty (20) hours per week. Hours of work are flexible and can be
      designed around course work requirements.

      Examples of Duties
      Scan and file address documents.
      Create and maintain Metadata files.
      Capture data from documents and transfer to database.
      Organize file directories.
      Create and define schematics from digital submittal for Emergency Response.
      Edit, update and link buildings and address points layer including
      on-screen digitizing.
      Create master address site plans for large developments.
      Data field verification.
      Other duties as assigned.

      Qualifications
      The City is searching for a self-motivated GIS Intern who has working
      knowledge of ArcGIS (Geodatabase environment) or ArcView 3.X, standard
      office applications (Word, Access, Excel) and AutoCAD. The intern
      must understand GIS data development and relational database concepts.
      The incumbent must have the ability to work independently, in a team
      environment and communicate effectively orally and in writing. The
      selected intern's contributions will assist the City in creating a
      tool that will aid the Fire Department when they respond to
      emergencies.

      Proficiency in GIS software systems such as ArcGIS (Geodatabase
      environment) or ArcView 3.X is required.

      Applicants must be college or university students or recent graduates
      undergoing supervised practical training.

      Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License is highly desirable.
