INTERNSHIP POSITION AVAILABLE
The Marin County Community Development Agency – Community Planning Division is looking for an intern interested in gaining hands-on community planning experience working in an energetic, fast-paced environment. We are located in the historic Frank Lloyd Wright Civic Center in San Rafael and are responsible for long-range planning including updating community plans and their residential design guidelines and implementing the newly adopted and highly acclaimed Marin County General Plan (www.future-marin.org) based on the theme
of “Planning Sustainable Communities.”
The Planning Intern will be exposed to various aspects of long-range planning and be provided with practical experience by assisting planners with planning research, analysis and mapping related to moderately difficult long-range planning activities. They will also work with a team of individuals to organize, implement and work with community groups to update residential design guidelines for specific communities. The Planning Intern will be expected to work closely with the supervising planner who will assign and manage the intern’s workload. Some knowledge of design and sustainability is preferred.
We are looking for undergraduate or graduate students in urban planning, environmental studies, urban design, or a related field who are willing to commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week for the summer. The position is unpaid. A successful candidate should have good verbal and written communication skills, be fact and detail-oriented, and thrive in a team-oriented office environment.
