      Internship: Transportation Engineer / Planner

       

      The City of San José Department of Transportation is seeking a student intern to work in the Transportation Planning Division.  The intern will work on a variety of projects including, but not limited to:

      • Working with transportation network models
      • Performing traffic analyses
      • Acting as a liaison to traffic consultants
      • Gathering field data

       

      Qualified candidates must:

      1. Be comfortable working with quantitative data and using Microsoft Excel
      2. Have strong communication skills
      3. Be able to work in a team and independently 

       

      Other desirable interests or skills include knowledge of transportation engineering and/or planning principles, experience with GIS and/or traffic modeling software tools, and strong technical writing abilities.

        Come celebrate Earth Day at San José City Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 22. Enjoy a farmer’s market, food vendors, live entertainment, and a marketplace of environmental ideas where you can learn how to “green” your lifestyle. Find out about San José’s Green Vision goals and how you can help the City achieve them through recycling, composting, using alternative transportation, conserving water, being energy efficient and through green building. Take the Green Vision Pledge to reduce your energy use, your water use and to recycle and we'll give you a bright GREEN re-usable grocery bag with the Green Vision logo.
         
         
        Falcon fans will have a chance to view the peregrine falcons nesting atop City Hall. Mayor Chuck Reed will take part in an Earth Day Bike Ride, starting at 11:30 a.m. that concludes at the Plaza during the Earth Day event.
