      Program Coordinator (Program Administrator II) - CA Healthy Cities and Communities

      A large non-profit public health organization conducting a broad range of public health research, training, and technical assistance programs in California, throughout the nation, and around the world is seeking a full time Program Coordinator for the Center for Civic Partnerships, California Healthy Cities and Communities program. This position is located in Sacramento, CA.

      This key management position is responsible for ensuring the continued successful implementation and development of the California Healthy Cities and Communities (CHCC) program and related community development efforts of the Center for Civic Partnerships. The incumbent manages multiple CHCC program components, including technical assistance; grant monitoring and evaluation; a membership program; educational programs; publications; and an educational campaign. This position also contributes to the development of the Center’s overall resources, programs, services, and internal organizational capacity. The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director of the Center.

      Duties & Responsibilities:

      Program Management - Ensure CHCC program goals and objectives are met by providing (directly and through team members) highly-skilled technical assistance to senior managers in municipalities and communities; managing the program team (recruit, hire and supervise staff; review and approve work products); coordinating all CHCC educational opportunities; managing publications from conceptualization to distribution; and synthesizing data, writing reports and conducting evaluations.

      Communications/Marketing - Develop effective partnerships within the public, private and voluntary sectors; represent the program/Center at meetings and conferences, make presentations; contribute to other Center-sponsored trainings and publications; and extensive electronically-based promotions.

      Center Development - Contribute to achievement of Center’s mission through organizational development, strategic planning, program design, evaluation and continuous quality improvement. Research resources and contribute to proposal development and special studies; and continue development of CHCC Network.

      Qualifications:

      Master’s degree (preferred) in related field (e.g., public health, urban/regional planning, public administration) and at least 5 years experience in program management and supervision. Must have proven knowledge of principles and methods for promoting, managing and evaluating programs, policies and environmental change strategies for community development and community health improvement; substantial knowledge of state and local government structure and functions; and proficiency in adult/peer learning principles.

      Other requirements include: strong computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, Internet applications and Power Point); excellent research, analytical, management, and prioritization skills; strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, listening and coaching skills; the ability to exercise cultural competency, to use sound judgment and to interact with groups and with persons in prominent positions.

      Position requires air and car travel, use of own vehicle, valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance.
