      Applying Smart Growth Principles: The Rowhouse Guidelines of Mountain View

      Description
      The purpose of the Rowhouse Guidelines was to provide direction on how new rowhouse development should be designed to create desirable residential developments and ensure a seamless integration with existing neighborhoods. The guidelines provide assistance to architects, developers, City staff and policymakers in the preparation and evaluation of plans to achieve high-quality rowhouse projects. Al Savay will talk in detail on how these guidelines have been developed and implemented in the City of Mountain View.

      Al Savay
      Al Savay is currently the Community Development Director for the City of San Carlos. His experience also includes two years as Zoning Administrator for the City of Mountain View and four years as Division Head for the Daly City Economic and Community Development Department. Mr. Savay has also held positions as Senior Planner with Daly City and Associate Planner with the City of Orinda and UC Irvine.
