- ASSOCIATE PLANNER - #1798 Final Filing Date: 05/18/07The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Associate Planner. This is a journey-level class in the professional planning series. Typical duties include the following: research, analyze, and interpret social, economic, population, and land use data and trends; prepare written reports on various planning matters and the General Plan; process use permits, variances, and other applications; analyze projects and prepare initial studies and environmental documents and reports; compile information and make recommendations on special studies; make presentations to Boards, Commissions, Committees, City Council, and other community groups; and check commercial, industrial, and residential development plans for issuance of zoning clearances. The ideal candidate will have interest in working in an environment where focus on urban design and city form is paramount. Will embrace innovation in the field of land use planning and support Redwood Citys effort to implement a bold new downtown plan; will also embrace the Citys emphasis on excellent customer service and will be a team player; is flexible and adaptable, has residential design and review and plan checking experience; able to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple tasks; and is interested in professional growth opportunities. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university, with major course work in city or regional planning, urban design, landscape architecture, or a related field; and three years responsible experience in a city planning department.
