      Summer Internship
      Community Affairs

The Community Affairs Office supports community reinvestment, fair
lending, and economic development activities throughout the region.
Acting as catalysts, conveners, and consultants, we seek to identify
best practices, build partnerships, and provide training and
technical assistance to community development practitioners.

      Responsibilities:
The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland's Community Affairs Office
seeks an intern to support several of the Office's 2007 operational
and strategic activities. Intern assignments typically vary in
complexity, from fairly routine operational activities to more
complex assignments that will require creativity and initiative.
Specific assignments for 2007 will include support for the following
      activities:

      • Research: including data collection and analysis on various
community development topics and support of department publications
      (both print and electronic)
      • Public Programs: activities supporting the June Policy
      Summit and seminar program development.

      Benefits of the Internship:
The student will gain an interesting perspective of the Federal
Reserve, learning not only about its role as a central bank, but also
of its involvement with community development.

      Requirements:
      • Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in
Public Administration, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, or
      related degree
      • Research experience or interest in performing research
      • Experience or interest in using automated support tools
      (e.g., SPSS and Arcview)
      • Ability to analyze and communicate research outcomes both
      verbally and in writing.
      • The optimal candidate is a self- starter, works well
independently or in a team environment, and has effective critical
      thinking and analytical skills.

      Additional Specifications:
Interns must be available to work full time for 10-12 weeks over the
      summer, Monday through Friday.
