Barcelona semester abroad study for planning students

Texas A&M University's College of Architecture is offering its semester
long study abroad program in Barcelona to students of other North
American universities.  The program is entering its seventh year, and a
typical comment of a returning student is "best experience of my life",
"best thing that ever happened to me", "changed my life", etc.
Barcelona, one of the world's most beautiful and livable cities, made so
by a long tradition of high quality planning and architecture, is an
      ideal living urban laboratory.

It is a 12 credit program in the fall and the summer semesters, offering
a 6-credit sustainable urban design studio, and three different 3-credit
seminar courses in Cities, Architecture, and Photography.  These courses
are open to all students, not just Urban Planning, Architecture, and
Landscape Architecture - though clearly students from these latter three
would have an advantage in the studio.  The 2007 first summer semester
in Barcelona goes from May 29 to June 29, and a second summer semester
from July 3 to August 6.

It is open to graduate and undergraduate students, and is
interdisciplinary in nature.  It is organized by the Polytechnic
University of Catalunya, where the famous Barcelona School of
      Architecture is located.

Approximate costs include the semester tuition plus a program fee that
fluctuates depending on the dollar-euro exchange rate and other factors.
It is expected to be in the $4,000 - $5,000 range, and includes R/T air
transport to Barcelona, housing, study travel, and so on.

In-state 12 credit semester tuition and fees are approximately $2,000
      undergrad, $2,500 graduate - see note 1 below=20

Out-of-state 12 credit semester tuition and fees are approx. $5,300
undergrad, $5,900 graduate - see note 2 below

Credits are easily transferable to the student's home institution.

Note 1   in-state tuition rate for all students enrolled at NSE National
Student Exchange universities, which includes many universities in the
USA and Canada that have planning programs.  Check www.nse.org
      <http://www.nse.org/> =20

Note 2   out of state rate for all non-NSE students.

Interested students and faculty members should contact Dolores Gonzalez,
program coordinator, College of Architecture, Texas A&M University for
registration details at dgonzales@...; or Alana Campbell,
program coordinator, Study Abroad programs, International Programs
Office, Texas A&M at alana-c@...; or myself.
