      SPUR, the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association,
      is hiring an Executive Assistant/Board Liaison to provide
      support to the Executive Director and the 65-person Board of
      Directors. This person will schedule meetings, write
      correspondence, return phone calls, provide staff support to
      board meetings, and do a large variety of other tasks in support
      of the executive and administrative functions of the
      organization.

      The job requires someone with attention to detail, good
      judgment, excellent organization skills, and an ability to get
      along well with all kinds of people in the middle of a hectic
      day.

      SPUR is one of the country’s leading urban policy organizations.
      Through research, education, and advocacy SPUR promotes good
      planning and good government. SPUR is a non-profit membership
      organization that draws support from individuals, businesses,
      foundations. The organization will be constructing a new
      headquarters building, set to open in the second quarter of
      2008, known as the Urban Center.

      We are looking for someone with a minimum of five years
      experience in an office environment. The ideal person will be
      someone who is on administrative career track; this is not a
      “stepping stone” to a policy job at SPUR. We are open to
      alternative schedules including less than full time work weeks
      for the right candidate. The salary will be based on experience.

      The Executive Assistant/Board Liaison is supervised by SPUR’s
      Administrative Director.

      Job Duties/Responsibilities

      Board Liaison
      •                 Staff the Board Development Committee, monthly Executive
      Committee, monthly Board of Directors, and quarterly Advisory
      Council meetings including coordinating agendas, room set-up,
      minutes, and assignments
      •                 Prepare board packets
      •                 Ensure proper filing and archiving of minutes and agendas
      •                 Staff the Board mentoring system
      •                 Schedule meetings for Board members
      •                 Serve as the general point of contact for Board member
      questions

      Executive Assistant
      •                 Schedule appointments for the executive director
      •                 Write letters, memos, and other correspondence
      •                 Answer and/or return phone calls as appropriate
      •                 Follow up on projects assigned to the Board by Executive
      Director

      SPUR in the News
      •                 Post media coverage of SPUR and its Board members either by
      managing volunteers or doing it yourself.
      •                 Post news clipping in SPUR’s Board room.
      •                 Archive SPUR in the News electronically and in print
      •                 Distribute SPUR in the News electronically and in print
      monthly.

      Office Administration
      •                 Enter donations into the accounts receivable log
      •                 Provide back up on phones
      •                 Help supervise office volunteers

      Special Projects
      •                 Conduct various tasks as assigned by the Executive Director
      and Administrative Director

      Skills
      •                 Proficient in Word and Excel
      •                 Mac literate
      •                 Comfortable learning new software and databases
      •                 Excellent writing
      •                 Good with many different kinds of people
