      Economic Self Sufficiency Program (ESSP) Coordinator -
      Treasure Island Homeless Development Initiative (TIHDI)

      The Treasure Island Homeless Development Initiative (TIHDI, pronounced
      “tie-dye”) is organized to provide exits from homelessness and other
      assistance for economically disadvantaged families and individuals through
      housing, employment, economic development, and support service
      opportunities on Treasure Island.

      TIHDI is committed to building a new San Francisco neighborhood that
      includes people from all socio economic backgrounds. To this end, TIHDI
      works with all residents of Treasure and Yerba Buena Islands (TI/YBI) --
      formerly homeless, low income and market rate residents-- to assist in
      building this vibrant, new neighborhood.

      Treasure Island Creative Network

      The Treasure Island Creative Network (TICN, pronounced “tickin”) is a
      collaboration of island residents and island-based nonprofit organizations
      dedicated to creating economic opportunities for residents on TI/YBI. The
      goals of TICN are to

      1) support residents in income generating opportunities, including
      providing access to business development training and other financial and
      asset building information; and

      2) to host island-wide events that provide an additional community benefit
      for all residents. Currently TICN hosts a monthly Flea Market and Craft

      ESSP Coordinator’s Primary Responsibilities

      TIHDI’s new Economic Self Sufficiency’s Program’s (ESSP) overarching goal
      is to assist all island residents in building long-term economic security.
      Towards that end, the program offers financial literacy training, asset
      development education and opportunities, and micro-enterprise development.
      TICN, with its focus on micro-enterprise development, is an integral
      component of this program.

      The ESSP Coordinator will be responsible for the ongoing planning and
      execution of the ESSP Program. Key to this position is the following

      • Recruiting island residents to participate in the program;

      • Researching, initiating, supporting and enhancing collaborative
      partnerships that advance the goals of the ESSP;

      • Coordinating and implementing financial education, asset development and
      micro-enterprise development workshops, trainings and materials for staff
      and residents island-wide;

      • Coordinating program activities with island partners including TIDA,
      Catholic Charities, Swords to Plowshares, Haight Ashbury Free Clinics,
      Walden House, Boys and Girls Clubs and the John Stewart Company;

      • Coordinating a train-the-trainer component so that staff from on-island
      partner organizations can actively participate in forwarding the goals of
      the ESSP Program;

      • Identifying, developing and implementing island-wide outreach
      opportunities to promote ESSP activities and recruit residents from both
      supportive and market rate housing to participate in these activities;

      • Coordinating and developing TICN, including supporting monthly markets,
      and assisting in long term planning;

      • Soliciting and analyzing the input of resident individuals and
      organizations to inform ongoing ESSP program design;

      • Managing the ESSP calendar, coordinating activity and event logistics
      and ensuring regular communications with partners and participants;

      • Participating in the development and implementation of evaluation tools
      to measure program impact and effectiveness;

      • Preparing written program reports.

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Experience developing and supporting collaborations and partnerships;

      • Ability and experience recruiting and motivating people from diverse
      socio-economic backgrounds to successfully participate in a project or

      • Experience developing and implementing creative and successful outreach
      and engagement strategies;

      • Initiative, ability to multi-task and experience with new program start-up;

      • Bachelor’s degree, (can be satisfied with demonstrated equivalent work
      experience in creating and growing new programs, especially those aimed at
      increasing economic self sufficiency);

      • 3-5 years experience working in the financial education, asset
      development, micro-enterprise development or employment development

      • Knowledge of homelessness and issues impacting homeless and very
      low-income people;

      • Demonstrated computer skills;

      • Experience monitoring, tracking, evaluating and reporting program
      outcomes and statistics;

      • Experience as a trainer and/or workshop facilitator a plus;

      • Knowledge of San Francisco’s economic development resources a plus.

      The ESSP Coordinator is a full-time 40 hour a week position. Compensation
