      The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of GIS Analyst.  The GIS Analyst is an entry-level position within the Redwood City Planning Department.  Redwood City has developed a GIS mapping system which incorporates land use data with aerials, zoning, engineering and other themes. The City uses GIS to provide important community development information to the public, conduct various studies and graphic displays for Committees and the City Council.  Primary duties of the GIS Analyst will include: Data management and creation, supportive mapping data and analysis upon request, and other projects related to development and planning. The City will expose the selected candidate to "real world" experience in a supportive and positive environment with updated GIS software and peripherals.   The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience: One year of experience using ArcGIS 8.3 or 9 (knowledge in ArchInfo and ArcView 3x is also desirable); Familiarity with GIS applications in planning, public policy or related intergovernmental process; Knowledge of databases such as Access (preferred), SQL, or SDE; Knowledge of Excel and  Powerpoint; Exposure to some programming such as Visual Basic and Avenue; Some experience with Autodesk MapGuide. The successful candidate will also have the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, and complete short-term projects with tight deadlines.  Salary: $24 per hour depending on experience, 20 hours per week / flexible schedule.
