Job Title: Community Outreach Liasion

Salary: $47,164 - $57,304 plus comprehensive benefits
The Mayor¡¦s Office of Criminal Justice is seeking a Community Outreach
Liaison to work under the direction of the Director and Deputy Director
in conjunction with the Violence Prevention Planning Coordinator to engage
community members and community groups in the process of creating a
city-wide San Francisco Violence Prevention Plan. The Mayor's Office of
Criminal Justice (MOCJ) promotes stronger, safer and healthier communities
by bringing people together to collectively address local public safety
needs. MOCJ partners with city agencies, law enforcement officials,
community-based organizations and federal and state funding agencies to
develop local juvenile and criminal justice policy. The Community Outreach
Liaison position is funded by a grant from the federal Office of Juvenile
Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), through a subcontract with the University
California-San Francisco (UCSF).
Organizing community members and community groups to provide input and
feedback in the creation and implementation of a
data-driven city-wide Violence Prevention Plan.
Supporting and collaborating with existing violence prevention efforts
Attending community meetings to understand community public safety
concerns and engage the community in the planning and
Staffing and participating in existing task forces, work groups and
committees related to violence prevention.
Assisting the Violence Prevention Planning Coordinator in coordinating
and convening the Violence Prevention Advisory Group, compromised of staff
from all key City Departments and other key stakeholders.
Working closely with the UCSF violence prevention team.
Other duties as determined by the Director and Deputy Director.
Completion of relevant Masters Degree with at least one year of experience
in community outreach and/or violence prevention work
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with major
coursework in violence prevention, community outreach, criminal justice,
youth development, or related field, and at least two years of experience
community outreach and/or violence prevention work.
Familiarity with San Francisco communities most affected by crime and
Knowledge of current San Francisco violence prevention efforts.
Knowledge of national best practices in violence prevention.
Extensive community outreach experience.
Comfort working in both City Hall and the community.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong collaboration skills.
Strong meeting facilitation and presentation skills.
