Job Announcement: Project Associate
Delivering Innovation in Supportive Housing (DISH), a project of the Tides
Center, will provide property management services tailored to the needs of
the San Francisco Department of Public Health's (DPH) Direct Access to
Housing (DAH) program, effective October 1st, 2006. DISH will manage the
Pacific Bay Inn and the Empress Hotel. In an effort to strengthen property
management at the DAH sites, DISH will strive to support tenants in
achieving their goals, maintain excellent building standards, and engage
with San Francisco's rich cultural, employment, and educational
opportunities. To achieve these goals, DISH will focus on customer service
and staff professional development. Through excellence in property
management DISH will demonstrate the healing effects of home and stable
community. The belief that formerly homeless tenants can, want to, and do
rebuild their lives and reintegrate into the broader community stands at the
core of DISH's approach to property management in supportive housing.
We are seeking a Project Associate to assist with the launch and day-to-day
operations of DISH. Portfolio of projects and tasks will be varied, and
this position offers the opportunity to help create a new organization. The
Project Associate will coordinate a range of projects, while helping to
design, implement, and maintain office and program systems. This position
reports to the Director.
a.. Assists with all aspects of launch and day-to-day operations,
including project coordination and general office management. Helps develop
and implement variety of office and organization-wide systems.
b.. Coordinates accounting, human resource, and other infrastructure
projects and tasks with Tides Center. Creates and maintains shadow
bookkeeping system for project accounting. Coordinates staff recruitment
c.. Coordinates implementation and maintenance of occupancy/rent software
at all DISH sites, including training site staff on software and related
d.. Assists with grant and contract proposals, invoices, reports, and
related projects, including analyzing data and creating reporting templates
e.. Assists with the development and coordination of staff trainings
related to customer service, property management, supportive housing, and
f.. Coordinates office space move-in, including equipment and supply
contracts and purchases. Maintains office systems and supplies.
g.. Coordinate vendor and in-kind donation relationships with DISH sites.
h.. Coordinates intranet content with DISH sites and information
i.. Coordinates administrative work with DISH sites; assisting on site as
needed. Designs administrative systems to enhance workflow.
j.. Works with Directors and General Managers to develop, revise, and
maintain operating policies and procedures.
k.. Performs administrative duties as assigned by the Director, including
those related to bookkeeping, filing, reporting, community activities, and
general office needs.
l.. Performs additional related duties as assigned by Director.
Administrative and project management experience required.
College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience with customer service provision or client relations preferred.
Experience and willingness to work in a team environment required.
Professional training may substitute for experience.
Skills and Abilities:

suite, including extensive experience with Word and Excel and email
management. Database and basic website experience a plus.

pressing issues. Ability to manage expectations and meet deadlines in a
timely and effective manner. Ability to be flexible and to work effectively
in a crisis situation.
d.. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds,
including people with active mental health issues, active substance use
issues, and histories of homelessness and trauma.
e.. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently
required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing,
writing, etc. Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Employee
must have the ability to attend meetings, sitting, listening, and computer
keying/mousing up to 7.5 hours per day. Frequently required to use a
computer, phone, copier, and fax machine.
This is a full-time, exempt position, starting around September 1st, 2006.
Salary range is mid-30's to low 40's, commensurate with experience.
Compensation includes a full benefits package, including medical, vision,
dental, vacation, paid holidays, sick leave, and a retirement plan.
Employer pays 100% of employee health insurance premiums.
